Tromsø Outdoor history
The company was established under the name: Tromsø Natur og Fritid by Magne Aarbø in 2006 and based in Lauklines Kystferie on Kvaløya. Magne used to organize Lavoo stays, guided trips, and rentals for individual guests and groups on Kvaløya.
In 2010 the company changed its name to Tromsø Outdoor and moved to Tromsø centre. This was the beginning of daily trips and activities with departures from the city. In addition the Activity and Rental Centre was opened. Guests could book guided activities and rent outdoor equipment for their hikes, bike rides, ski and snowshoe expeditions and explore the best of Tromsø on their own.
At this time Tromso Outdoor began to actively participate in many projects focused on the promotion of Northern Norway and in cooperation with cycling and skiing networks.
Ever since, Tromsø Outdoor has cooperated closely with many companies in Norway and abroad, aiming to provide the best quality service, top notch equipment, complete holiday packages and comprehensive information for guests coming to Northern Norway.
In August 2016 Tromsø Outdoor changed the company organization form to AS (aksjon selskap) and we continue to develop our activities and rental offers further.
In 2016 we started process of transforming company into more environment friendly and sustainable, in 2021 our work was recognised and Tromsø Outdoor AS was granted Eco Lighthouse certiffication, recertified in 2024.
Ski and bike workshop is our latest project we have been developing since 2017.
In 2019 we purchased Wintersteiger Omega SBI and Waxjet 92 machines that will make our work easier and skis better prepared for our guests. Our workshop is now open to service also your skis and snowboards. in 2021 we invested a lot in the bike workshop and tools from Park Tool. Currently our workshops ervices are growing and we welcome both Tromslø visitor and local people with their gear.
In September 2022 we moved to a new location at Fredrik Langes gate 14, where we offer rental and workshop services in two stores in modern, well accessible and larger space.
Tromsø Outdoor AS guided activities
Tromsø Outdoor AS activities take place all year round with multiple departures every day.
Our activities are conducted in small groups (for bigger groups several guides are provided) and we think of our tours as "soft adventure" - everyone will find an activity to meet their experience and fitness level.
Sporty people who wish to explore wilder areas can join us on Guided snowshoe hill hike , while families with children, seniors or people without experience in snow and those who want to relax are invited to join us on Snowshoe trip on Tromsøya or for Easy snowshoeing with a visit to local café.
Anyone with no experience cross-country skiing may enjoy our Cross Country ski trip - beginners ski course.
In summer we invite our guests to Explore Tromsø by e-bike together with us.

Our company is also an important member of several tourism development and promotion networks around the country. We work to establish system of certifications for guides, standards for risk assessments and certifications for tourism and nature based activity organizers.
